Unicode characters in E-mail backup type (Outlook 2010)
Dear all,
Before I can buy Acronis True Image 2012, there is one last thing which I need to clarify in order to make sure that I can use it to backup my emails. I have not found this information on the Acronis site or in the web, so I would like to ask you whether you could please help me.
The True Image documentation says:
"Acronis True Image Home does not support Unicode characters in the items backed up using the E-mail backup type."
I am not sure what this means and how it would affect me when creating an e-mail backup for my Outlook 2010 (Vista x64).
1. As far as I understand, Unicode PSTs themselves are not a problem, problems only occur if the items in the Unicode PST actually contain Unicode characters. Right? (All of my PSTs are Unicode PSTs.)
2. I do not know whether my PSTs contain items with Unicode characters, and if yes how many. My mails are full of accents, umlauts etc. (á, à, ä, ...). Does this mean that they already do contain Unicode characters? Or do only "far-eastern" characters like Japanese Kanji count as Unicode characters?
3. Do you know of any tool/script/trick which I could use to run a search on my PSTs and return to me all items which contain Unicode characters?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,
I.-C.
