Universal Media restore disc creation problem

Thread needs solution

I hav windows 7 Professional 64 bit on my computer. When I tried to create Universal restore disc as per Following Acronis direction.

"The Windows default driver storage folder is determined in the registry value DevicePath, which can be found in the registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.

This storage folder is usually WINDOWS/inf."

I directed to load drivers from Windows\inf. I got error that windows\inf\ltmdm64.sys is not found. without it

I found driver ltmdm64.sys and copy in Windows\inf folder, I got another error:

I got message aqrsm64.sys is missing. In googled it and could not find on web or any of 3 computers my family has.

1. when addd Driver question arose, I directed to Windows\inf directory. Is it right?

2. can you tell me exactly which drivers are necessary and where do I find on desktop?

3. Reliable URL for drivers.

Any help is appreciated in creating disk.

Thank you in advance.

Bak,

Why are you trying to include all the device drivers from the Windows\inf folder?  This is absolutley not necessary.

For most normal uses of the Acronis Universal Restore media there is no need to include any device drivers at all unless there is some hardware in the new computer system you are restoring a backup to that requires an additional device driver to allow it to be booted successfully into Windows.

The whole purpose of Universal Restore is to prepare the restored OS to work on the new / different hardware by normalising the device drivers so that when Windows boots it will find new hardware and automatically load drivers from its database.

Mr. Smith:

Thank you for the reply. I am new using Acronis 2015. Acronis web instruction confused me. I have backup my computer on removable hard drive created by acronis 2015 . As per your suggestion, I created Universal restore med disk. On my new hardware (computer) I want to install everything including operating system from my backup drive. Can you suggest  the steps please?

Thank you for your help.

Bak,

Please see KB document: 56637: Acronis True Image 2016: Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis Universal Restore which has a lot of information on using Universal Restore and includes a video tutorial showing the process.
