Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Is it possible to migrate to a new PC with dissimilar hardware without having a backup image of the drive? I do have the original drive intact but I am not able to create a backup image because my CPU fried.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

If you have access to another external caddy, ou could boot another PC using the recovery CD and then image your old drive to another external drive and then restore it to a new PC using Universal Restore.

Did you want to just remove the old drive and place it into a new PC?

If you are running XP as the OS, all you will need is an install CD and run a repair install, this will keep your programs intact, but will delete any Windows service packs that aren't on your install CD. If you have Vista onwards this can't be done.
