Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Premium does not create boot up with Universal Restore. Experiment with Windows has Universal Restore grayed out. Anyone know why this happened?

Did you create a disk mode backup that contains the OS? Universal restore only appears when you select recover. The feature appears in my boot media.

My backups are on an external drive. In win 7 Aconis comes up as "Premium" and Universal Restore shows up there. However, when I tried to use the Universal Restore from a thumb drive on which I created the bootable Acronis program, it did not show up during a restore operation.

I'm using CD/DVD boot media. I haven't tried a USB drive.

I have found the root cause of the failure of Universal Restore to appear during recovery of Acronis TrueImage backups. I have contacted Acronis support and asked for modest financial consideration for the full solution for the specific case I have discovered and solved, but Acronis is not interested in any compensation for the literally dozens of hours I have spent on tracking down and solving the problem.

So, Acronis, again, takes the position toward their customers that bugs and defects in the product or documentation are the customers' problem, and they neither take responsibility for fixing them, or for making sure the quality of their products is worthy of the price they charge.

You can help:
1) Contact Acronis and tell them you have a problem with Universal Restore, and that you have read this posting, and ask them why they won't pay a modest amount for the solution.

2) eMail me a copy of your message, and response from them, and I will send you a private, non-redistributable solution you can use. Use this email: caogdin (at) gmail (dot) com.

My solution is only known to work on certain major-manufacturer's computer systems that are shipped without a reinstall/repair DVD for Windows 7. If you do not have that kind of system, I frankly do not know if my solution will work for you or not.

Hi Carol,
I have almost the same problem with Universal Restore. I start Acronis True Image 2015 Home on Windows 8.1 64-Bit, click "EXTRAS" and then Universal Restore. It keeps telling me to download the damn thing and install it, although I'd already done it. I've tried contacting them but all you get are links to forums where it's a needle in a haystack situation. You have to trawl through untold number of blogs to get your answer. I guess Acronis is mainly interested in selling and not helping. However, I'll let you know if any answer crops up from them.
