Universal Restore and Plus Pack

Thread needs solution

Once every few years my PC/laptop might crash or be stolen and I decide to buy a new computer and restore my image.
This will need Universal Restore to restore the image to dissimilar hardware.

My question is, do I need Plus Pack installed AT THE TIME THE IMAGE IS CREATED or can I simply buy Plus Pack at restore time using another computer, creating a recovery disk with Plus Pack installed).

The difference is, to stay up with the latest version, I must pay a premium each upgrade to keep Plus Pack, yet I will want the Universal Restore feature once in a blue moon.
Instead, I could pay the cheaper price each upgrade then fork out the extra if and when I need Universal Restore. UNLESS, I AM REQUIRED to have the Plus Pack installed prior to creating a backup image that will be used with Universal Restore.

Anyone know? Thx

The image is independent of whether the Plus Pack is installed or not. You don't need to have the Plus Pack installed before you make an image you could restore with the Plus Pack installed later.

To use the UR feature, you need to install the Plus Pack and create a new bootable media, then test it.

I'm having a problem here i bought 2012 and plus pack installed im tring to switch from a single drive "ssd" to raid0 "ssd".. i had used windows backup to create a image before i started thankfully!!! i used Acronis and made a backup and a boot disk. when i treid to recover to the raid0 arry there was NO option for the universal restore so went ahead and recovered no luck missing boot after post I've treid diffrent ways just about to give up on this any help would be greatly apperciated

Hopefully you have created your ACronis bootable CD AFTER you have installed the Plus Pack.
