Universal Restore FAILED Missing Driver HELP!

Thread needs solution

While trying to perform a universal restore with True Image 2015 the "automatic driver search" returns a missing driver error for the same driver, even though I give the path to the chipset, lan, sata, ahci drivers (inf and sys files) for the new hardware.

I'm trying to restore a image from a dell inspiron 660s to a new dell inspiron 3847 desktop.

I downloaded all driver directly from dell.com

I followed all the steps to perform the restore based on your article:

Article:

Create an Acronis bootable media and boot the target computer (connect the media to your computer and restart the computer).
Perform recovery of the backed up system.
Download Acronis Universal Boot media builder and create a bootable media containing Acronis Universal Boot - a free tool available for Acronis Customers (see details below), which allows you to make the restored system bootable on dissimilar hardware.
Prepare necessary drivers (see details below), boot the target computer and use Universal Boot (see details below) to make the restored system bootable on the new hardware.
Now you can start the computer and work with your system restored to the new hardware.

I even burned a brand new universal restore disk and made sure to supply all
HDD / Sata / AHCI drivers for mass storage like it asked for before making
the iso file / burning the disk.

I tried both 32 and 64 bit universal restore with the same result.

I tried putting the drivers on the root of the usb drive and inside a folder
with same result.

I tried supplying mass storage drivers "to install anyway" along with the
"automatic driver search", that made no difference.

Even if I don't supply any drivers, universal restore goes through the same
steps and according to the log - schedules the same drivers to install and
always fails to find this on specific driver NO MATTER WHAT almost as if it
doesn't see my drivers at all.

Steps I performed:

1. Full backup saved to usb drive
2. Restore this backup to new hardware (Successfully)
3. Windows boots to black screen (will not boot no error)
4. Burn Universal restore disk from link you provided - provided mass
storage drivers prior to burning
5. Boot to universal restore disk - choose 32 bit universal restore
6. Provide my usb drive for automatic driver search
7. Click Ok start automatic driver search
8. Scan always stops at 55% no matter what and asks for this driver:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C31&SUBSYS_06221028&REV_05 for Windows 8.1

According to google this driver is for the USB 3.0 Controller (not sure why this matters, shouldnt make the pc un-bootable by missing a usb driver...)

Adding this driver:
Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver

to the others didn't fix the issue.

Ignoring this missing driver does nothing as it just starts all over again.

PLEASE HELP ME, MY PC ISN'T USABLE NOW!

It is not clear where you downloaded the driver files you are using. If you did not get them from the Dell Support website my suggestion would be to get them there. You should also download and update the machine bios to the latest version available while your there and update the bios first before attempting the rest of your restoration.

Updates, patches, etc., are released for all hardware regardless of age or how new. In fact, new machines have more frequent updates, patches than do older ones. I had a look at the Dell Support site for your Inspiron 3847 and it shows 1 bios update file as well as several other updates for the machine. A machines bios being updated to the latest bios version is often necessary if not mandatory to insure compatibility with other hardware/software updates/upgrades especially when it comes to drivers and new standards such as USB 3.0.

Updating the bios didn't fix the issue, I ended up fixing this issue on my own despite paying your wonderful tech support fee of $20 which got me nowhere. All Acronis tech support did was make me repeat the same process over and over again, and then they finally "escalated" the issue and I still haven't heard back 48 hours after that happened. All I did was change boot mode to EUFI from legacy in the bios and the machine booted right up even with your software telling me I was missing drivers. (Why does True Image alert me to missing drivers when in fact all the necessary drivers to boot were there all along!?)

The purpose of UEFI is primarily for security of a system. The missing driver files message from the app is a generic message admittedly however bios configuration is a user level function and responsibility. The user needs to insure that machine hardware is configured correctly to boot a machine.

I think maybe you take much time to find and download the drivers for your 3847, and i will recommend you to find all drivers here: https://windows10skill.com/download-dell-drivers-for-windows-10/ and it will provides you more fast download speed.
