Universal Restore NOT Supported!?!

Thread needs solution

Dear Support:

Why did I pay for this product when it does not do what it advertised?

I had a motherboard failure, so I removed the hard drive, ran a backup using Acronis True Image 2014 and intended to use Acronis Universal Restore to place the hard drive in a different computer. KB47165
(https://kb.acronis.com/content/47165) explains the steps to use Universal Restore. Seemed simple enough. Step 4 says "Select Recover whole disks and partitions and Use Acronis Universal Restore". The latest boot disk for TI2014 has a button to select Recover whole disks and partitions but, unlike the picture in KB47165, has NO box to check Use Acronis Universal Restore!

How does one use the Universal Restore function?

A very angry and frustrated customer wants to know! (After that, explain why I cannot talk to an actual support person and have to post here!)

Sincerely,

tyrone3a

WOW !
I am suprised that your recovery disc did not have the UR option.
Although this is the 2015 forum, I just wanted to let you know that just yesterday I had a drive failure on one of my Windows 7 units.
I replaced the drive, booted with the 2014 recovery disc and selected the restore option.
I noticed that my recovery disc program did offer an option to recover using universal restore.
As a note, the recovery went perfect (22 minutes) and my replacement ssd was up and running.
Over the past couple of years, I have used the same recovery disc for restoration after a MB failure.
The recovery disc was created using my installed TIH2014.
I bet some of the super users will chime in here and offer you tips or a solution.

The implementation of Universal Restore was changed in the final build of 2014. It is now a separate download that has to be burned to a disc. The link above contains instructions on downloading the ISO and performing Universal Restore.
