Universal Restore option is not available.
Hello, I am attempting to restore a complete disk backup to a different machine. My HP laptop CPU failed so I'm taking the disk backup from it and attempting to restore onto a new Dell laptop. Both machines run Windows 7.
I've read the knowledge base articles that describe this process. I've downloaded the latest bootable media and burned it onto a CD. When I boot up into the Home Image 2012 Plus Pack, I am selecting the disk backup file, but in the "Recovery Method" screen I do not see the checkbox to select "Universal Restore". I've purchased paid phone support and have discussed this with Acronis support several times, but they seem stumped at this point. One of the support techs even asked me why I didn't just transfer all my data over to the new Dell laptop since it already is running Windows 7! Never mind that I purchased the Acronis product so I wouldn't have to reinstall all the applications. Of course at this point it seems that would have been easier.
Has anyone run into this issue, and how did you resolve it?

Yes I downloaded the 272x.zip file that you attached and selected the .tib file from within the bootable media, and I see the "use universal restore" checkbox! So what does that mean?

That means that your media is OK and it has the UR option, and the problem is in your OS image or how True Image handles it, i.e. not detecting in the image an OS that it can work with. I assume that you alreasy checked http://kb.acronis.com/content/1823 . Maybe support can offer you a bootable media of, say ABR11 with universal restore to try restoring with it.
