Universal Restore option sometimes missing.

Thread needs solution

Using TI 2014 Premium:

I have already gone through the recommended downloading of the bootable media iso.

I backed up five different computers to five different tib files, all on the same external drive, using partition mode, using bootable media. When I try to restore to a different computer, depending on which tib I browse to, the Universal Restore option may, or may not appear.

These are practice recoveries, so I'm ready whenever a customer is in a bind. I need the Universal Restore option to be there consistently, without just hoping to get lucky.

Acronis has programmed in a decision making process as to whether UR is shown or not. A search of the knowledge base should yield something on this subject. I know I've read it in the past. The image must contain a supported operation system is one of the criteria. I can't remember what systems are supported, but I think XP is not. Are any of your images of an XP computer?

EDIT:

See this link. http://kb.acronis.com/content/1823 I think there is more to it than is talked about there. There have been many complaints about this issue in the past.

If you want to make your restores a lot easier when restoring to the old disk or a new disk of the same size,
considier changing our backup type from partitiion mode to disk mode. Or, if restoring to a larger disk, the restore will not be any harder. Using Disk mode backups, no restore opitons are lost and some can be much easier as mentioned above. Here is a link which illustrates the disk mode backup. This may(?) also solve your issue of Universal restore not showing.
