Updating True Image Home 2010 to build 7,160

Thread needs solution

Hi, I'm looking some advice, please.

I'm currently running True Image Home 2010 (build 6,053), and trying to update to build 7,160. (I'm doing this as the current build can't backup Outlook files whilst Outlook is running.)

When trying to update it to the latest build, I receive the following error:

The error was encountered while the installation. [sic]

Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot be continued. In Control Panel, open Add/Remove Programs to configure or remove the existing version of this product.

So I go to uninstall it, and receive the following error:

The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel.

I'm happy to admit this is probably my fault - I deleted a chunky Acronis file in the Windows/Installer folder without thinking.

Any advice on how to remove or update my program, please?

Much obliged,

  Andy.

Try starting the install program of 7160 again and choose the install option. You will be presented with a option to do a Repair. Try this.

Do you have Plus pack installed? In the add/remove programs, this would be listed under P's for Plus Pack as Acronis is not identified. If yo do have pluspack, it will need to be uninstalled.

Hi Grover,

Alas, when I fire up the install program, I have two options - check for an update, or install. (There are two links to guides and support underneath.) Checking for an update is unsuccessful, as I'm using the latest install program. And if I click on install, it goes immediately to the first error message mentioned above. There is unfortunately no option to repair the installation.

I didn't think I had the Plus Pack installed, and I checked in Add/Remove Programs (well, the Win7 equivalent), and sure enough it wasn't there. :)

Thanks for the suggestions anyway,

Andy.
