Updgraded to TI Home 2010; Now System State Backups are Almost 10 TIMES LARGER!

Thread needs solution

For the last year or so, I'd been running TI Home 2009. I started to have some problems so, at the suggestion of Acronis, I upgraded to TI Home 2010. I'm using XP Pro. SP 3.

I do a nightly backup of my system state. Under TI 2009, the system state backups were approximately 246,000 KB in size. Under TI 2010, however, the system state backups are in the 2,186,000 KB size range. WTF? I haven't installed any new programs (other than TI 2010), and to my knowledge haven't changed the registry (except for changes that TI 2010 might have made). The other backups I do have stayed pretty consistent in size.

Can anyone tell me why the system state backups have gotten so huge? The only thing I can think of is something related to TI 2010, but I don't have enough expertise to figure out if this is the case.

Thanks!

Scott

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but, have you tried exploring the backup just to see if you have an extra file in there?

What size is your pagefile and hyberfil files? TI will include placeholders for these, but that shouldn't affect the total backup file.

Have you checked your temporary files folder, just in case something managed to 'snuck in' whilst you weren't looking?

The path you are looking for is:

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings\Temp
