Upgrade of 5105 to 6574 for true image

Thread needs solution

I was logged on to my user account and brought up Acronis true immage (by entering my administor password) and was informed there was an upgrade.

I downloaded it and started to install it, It closed my nonstop process and then just sat there. It could not be cancelled so I had to reboot.

I rebooted and logged on to my administor account. Brougfht up True image was notified there was an update and it then it installed it very quickly and requested a reboot.

After reboot logged on to my user account and started true image, it told my I needed a second reboot as I had an older version still running.

I rebooted but the system would not come up had to use system restore to repair the system which of course restored my True image back to 5105.

I am not now very comfortable with reinstalling the upgrade. Why would it complete under the administor logon but not under the user account? Why did it wreck the system?

6574 has been withdrawn from the download area. I would not make any more changes until its replacement arrives--hopefully within just a few days but there is no release date for the next release. Just a few days is only a guess.

You might want to investigate the correct procedures for installing when you have nonstop running. These procedures should be supplied whenever the next release is announced.

Your best bet is to shut down eveything andthen do you update/install. This is easily done by using msconfig to disable all non-microsoft services and all startup programs, then reboot, do install/upgrade, then re-enable everything and boot up again.
