Upgrade serial number.
When I try to install TIH 2012, and the installer asks for my serial number, it keeps telling me that I'm using an upgrade serial number and I need to provide the serial number of the product I'm upgrading from.
The product I upgraded from was Seagate DiscWizard, and that doesn't come with a serial number.
The installer hints that I might have to install the trial version of TIH in order to use my upgrade serial, so I registered for a trial and tried to use the provided serial for the upgrade. Still doesn't work.
(and for further information, this is all because of a problem I was having after initially being successful in installing the software, but it not even working:

Hello all,
Thank you for taking time to contact us.
Lee,
Colin is correct, you should install Acronis True Image Home 2012 over DiskWizard. Please note that the Seagate hard disk should be present at the system also.
The trial version accepts full and upgrade serial numbers. If you insert upgrade serial number first, the program asks to insert serial number for the previous version.
Thank you.

Similarly with TI 2010, after installing a new DW to allow a 3TB disc
TI reverted to the trial version, so I needed to reinstall TI.
However, I had trouble installing TI and an update (late build). I was asked for a serial number for the upgrade (which I had) and then a previous serial number. Using the same serial number twice did not work. But by installing the original DiskWizard and original TrueImage (from my Seagate source files) and then the update (in my Acronis folder) I was able to install a full version of TI 2010
