Upgrading from True Image Home 11 to 2010

Thread needs solution

I'm wondering if anyone can annswer this for me... If I was to upgrade, do I need to uninstall the boot rescue or secure zone facility? It seems like a question that I should be able to answer for myself but I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks,

Hello Lone,

Thank you for posting your questions, I will be happy to help.
I assume we are speaking about Acronis Startup Recovery Manager and Acronis Secure Zone.
If you Upgrade the program to the latest version (or even if you update the software to the latest build), it is preferable to reactivate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.  Acronis Startup Recovery Manager is based on Linux, and reactivation will allow to use the latest drivers available for now. This is also true for Acronis Bootable Media.
Since you are planning to upgrade from Acronis True Image 11 Home, I would recommend you to recreate Acronis Secure Zone. This feature has been updated greatly starting from Acronis True Image Home 2009.
For example, in build # 9788 or higher of Acronis True Image Home 2009 Acronis Secure Zone can be browsed through Windows Explorer.  Also, starting from this build Acronis Startup Recovery Manager is independent from Acronis Secure Zone, it is stored on the system partition in the \bootwiz\asrm.bin file.
Therefore, to use the benefits of the features implemented for the latest versions you should recreate  Acronis Secure Zone.
If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
