usb hard disk cloning issue, destination disk greyed out

Im having trouble cloning a usb backup drive. I have a wd passport drive i want to clone. I bought an iomega usb backup drive of same capacity 500gb. I can select the source but the destination disk is greyed out. I tried in windows xp and from the boot image disk. Same result. I know that with vers. 11 I had no problem cloning two usb adapted sata hard disks, even of dissimilar sizes. Any ideas, sales is no help, after you buy the product. Support chat is not responding.

I could not access my USB Thumb drives after installing ATIH 2012 so maybe this is the same issue. I have Fantom external USB3 drives which I did not bring online while I had 2012 installed. There are also postings of SSD drives being greyed out as well. I have an Intel 520 SSD which 2012 did see so it could be related to the SSD issue also. I know none of this helps you but perhaps it will help the tech support team.
