Using Bootable Media get "Unable to open archive" message

Thread needs solution

As a "Previously" satisfied customer of ATI I recently upgraded to 2012 - ugh, what a mess. After many installation nightmares, I downloaded the latest version and installed and I was able to get 2 backups of my entire drive (1 - from the original release version and (2 from the updated version of ATI 2012. These were both created on Win XP sp3 and both validated. Somehow or another I had a complete hard drive meltdown and could not reboot into Windows XP. I am currently using Win 7 and have not been able to install ATI back to the system. Same problems as being reported on this forum. I used the Removal Tool, went through the registry to make sure all files were gone. Soooooooooooo.. I attempted to restore my backups using the boot media disk. It loaded fine, however when attempting to recover my XP system, I get UNABLE TO OPEN ARCHIVE. My backups are on an external Buffalo drive. I can see them, access them but can't open them.

Please advise
