Using a HP 64 bit Pavillion DV7 computer

Thread needs solution

I used Acronis build 11 before downloading updates.
I had a new 100GB Hard Drive (used twice before) and I Acronis a clone of my hard drive over to this new drive using a USB wire. In retrospect, I probably should have used the second Hard Drive slot in the computer but I didn't think of it. Anyway, after the clone the drive failed. The drive motor runs but I can't get a drive letter when USB connected to various computers -- of course the "clone" does not work.

Now I wonder if Acronis works with 64 bit machines???
and]
Can Acronis provide any resourse for reactivating my "new" corrupt hard drive???

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Lee,

If you have ATI 2011, you will have no systematic issues with 64bit OS.

Cloning is best achieved from the recovery CD of ACronis. This will take Windows out of the process and your computer will be an expensive pipe to move data from one disk to another (of course, it is not that simple).

To reset your disk, you can boot on the recovery CD, choose add new disk, point at the disk and confirm. Be careful! The drives may have different letters when you use the CD. Make sure you point at the right disk by looking at drive labels...
