Using RAID2 - Be Careful!
I have a Dell E510 running XP Pro and RAID2 using the Intel Matrix Storage Manager ICH7R.
I attempted to back up a drive to an external drive using True Image Home 2010. It is the purchased version, not a download. An attempted backup (not restore) caused the computer hard drives to become unusable.
I used the disk as a boot disk, and the backup seemed to proceed properly. However, when the computer restarted, the light blue screen with white letters appeared - the screen that normally indicates there are serious problems with a drive. Tests were run that seemed to pass, but windows would not start. I removed the primary drive, put the secondary drive in it's place and used the Safe Mode. Windows still wouldn't start, and I was notified that I had a dirty drive. Fortunately, I had also used Terabyte True Image for DOS boot disk to make a backup. It's a nice program, but I can't use an external drive for the image. I successfully restored the primary drive, and RAID rebuilt the other drive after an hour or so.
I noticed threads mentioning problems with new computers, but this computer is a few years old.
