Using True Image home 2012 with HD's containing multiple partitions

Thread needs solution

I have 3 computers and keep a clone of the HD on a spare HD for each of the 3. I also do free work for families school children who cannot afford to buy computers or have computer work done for theirs children to use for school work. Anyway, I need to clone a harddrive temporarily and don't have a extra drive at this time to do it on and am wondering if I resize the primary partition on one of my backups and then create another primary partition if there is anyway to clone the drive to the added partition without it erasing my existing primary partition with my own backup on it.

any help or advise is appreciated. I've never tried to do this before and noticed that when I just tried it Accronis told me that it would erase the entire drive.

Thanks,

You can use True Image to create a "backup image" of the source drive to a different hard disk, but can not use "clone" in the manner in which you wish to do so. A "clone" makes a duplicate of the source drive on the target drive, completely erasing the target first.

I would suggest you take a look at the user guide for 2012 and become familiar with the basic differences between "cloning" and creating a "backup image" of a drive.

You can create an image file of an entire disk drive on another drive (the image file is like any other file on your computer), and later restore the contents of the image file to a new disk (restoring all partitions, OS, data, MBR, etc.), or the same original source disk. When creating an image file, the destination disk where you store the image file(s) is not erased, the image files are just stored on it.
