Utility to completly wipe/remove/uninstall TI-2010?
I am at a loss on how to resolve a particular issue.
Is there a utility to completly wipe/remove/uninstall TI-2010?
My issue is I have one filename (archivename) which I have used for weeks "mypc_linea".
Starting a few days ago "mypc_linea" when I run "mypc_linea" the job would instantly fail.
The acronis log file gives NO details at all why the job failed other than the job failed.
no matter what I do I simply can not get a backup job called "mypc_linea" to run to completion.
I have gone so far as to un-install TI-2010, delete all prior .tib files and reinstall ti-2010.
Now that I have this newly installed "virginal" acronis installation if I create a backup job called "mypc_linea" it will fail with no messages at all other than the task ended in error.
However I create a job which is identical in EVERY respect with excpetion of both the tib file and archive name being "mypc_line_a" (note the name change of _a).
Then this new "mypc_line_a" job WILL succeed but "mypc_linea" will fail.
Same backup, same destination device, same folder just a different tib filename and archivename (which is automatically derived from the filename).
There is nothing inheriently evil about a filename called "mypc_linea" versus "mypc_line_a".
I think what I need is to remove all traces of acronis and re-install it on a virginal pc.
I do know that the "uninstall" one can do from "add/remove programs" does NOT really uninstall everything - there are some things which remain in the registry.
This is easily seen when you reinstall. If you look at the global options the email notifications panel is pre-populated/defined including the server, username and email password. So clearly the uninstall performed earlier left "garbage" in the registry. I suspect this "garbage" is what is causing my "mypc_linea" to fail.

Hello oracledba and Murgatroyd.
I will surely help you and resolve the issue you have experienced.
I'd like to inform you that we've released a CleanUp utility for Acronis True Image 2010 Home recently. You can download the new utility at this link.
- Unpack the downloaded file and run it;
- Please choose to delete all Acronis products from the system;
- You will be asked to close Windows Explorer instances since this is necessary to remove the tishell.dll and timounter.dll Acronis files, which interact with explorer.exe;
- You will be also asked to reboot the system to complete the uninstallation. You can reboot the system later.
Please note that you need 2 additional components to run the utility - DevCon and Msizap
Please let me know if you need any further assistance, I'll be glad to help.
Thank you.

You could instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater try this if the error is listed in the log:
http://kb.acronis.com/content/1785
Unregistering separate tasks from Acronis Scheduler
Open the operation log of Acronis True Image;
(!) To view the operation log, in the main window of the program select Tasks and Log in Acronis True Image Home 2009 or Show Log in any other version of Acronis True Image.
Find the respective error entry and note the name of the mentioned script. For example:
Error 1 108 (0X1006C) 10/29/2008 12:09:02 No such script "90F1BFEE-7B23-4E67-96EE-173F00AE9AB4"
Download Acronis Scheduler Manager from http://download.acronis.com/support/schedmgr.exe
Run the schedmgr.exe file and issue the following command:
get list
In the list of displayed tasks, note the number of the script that has the same name as the one that produces error entries in the log. For example:
1-3 ~*TrueImageNotify* /dummy / script: "90F1BFEE-7B23-4E67-96EE-173F00AE9AB4" /uuid: "90F1BFEE-7B23-4E67-96EE-173F00AE9AB4"
Issue the following commands:
task [Script Number]
task delete
For example:
task 1-3
task delete
If there is more than one task that produce error entries, repeat the procedure for each of them separately.

Maybe my reply is too late for user oracledba, but might be of interest for others. In my just created topic with remarks and complaints (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/12406) I wrote:
At #11 I wrote: setting up the job is much more "critical" than with v11.
I've now an example (but it's not the only situation). I made a differential backup and because the file size was rather large (due to pagefile), I want to make a replacement. Deleting (moving) the diff backup file is not enough to make it possible to make a new one with the same name (sequence number; this was easy with the old version). The saved backup task is preventing this and should be deleted first. This can be done at Task & Log /non planned tasks. [End of quote]
But saved backup locations can prevent (or at least confuse) the making of a backup with an old name too. Look at the target setup screen to the list of backup locations if the name already/still exist. If yes, then you have probably to remove that location first. The only way I found so far, is editing the Registry. Search for key 'HISTORYIMAGE' in HKEY_USERS and remove the line with the name you want to use.
Note. This is based on my system with Windows XP Pro SP3 (Dutch).
