Validation - includes all .tibs or simply the 1 selected
Using TI 10 with WinXP: After defragging the backup disk, need to do a validation of the total image. It consists of 14 .tib's each with 1,500,000KB.
Only 1 .tib can be selected for validation. Question if it is then validating all 14 files or simply the one selected?

Validation will occur on the the file you select plus any PRIOR backup files in that backup set.
If you select #10, it will validate the full plus 2-10.
If you select #14, it will validate the full plus 2-14
If you select #3, it will validate the full plus 2-3
If you select only the full, then only the full will be validated.

Thanks for your quick reply. However, I am uncertain as to the meaning of "full." -- does that mean the 1st .tib? It sound as though if there are 14 .tib's in a backup the 14th .tib must be selected in order for all 14 to be verified, is that right?
Incidentally, can't locate a log of the verification. Is it created and if so, where?

If it's a "split" image, all splits will be verified (it takes them all to make a complete image).

Prior to sending the 1st msg I verified .tib#1 and could not find proof of verification. Is such generated if the entire image is verified (such as by verifying only .tib#14?

Miles,
My response was based on you have a full image plus incrementals. I should have read more carefully. You have 14 equal size images so you must have asked that the backup be split into equal size pieces. As MudCrab stated, you have one backup set and choosing to validate any of the 14 will cause all to be validated because you really on have one file but split into pieces so it is the entire file which is being validated.
Version 10 was several versions back. I don't recall that there was any confirmation of validation but if there was one, it would be most likely in the log file for that particular backup.

Thank you. However, I still question as to what was verified based on the log which I finally located for the verification of D drive. Quote:
?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
Backup Archive Validation<endl/><tabpoint value=30><indent value=4>Location: <indent value=10><textcolor value="navyblue">"H:\TI-D-6-27-10#5.tib"</textcolor></indent><indent value=4><endl/>Archive Type: <indent value=10><textcolor value="navyblue">Image</textcolor></indent><indent value=4><endl/>Archive created: <indent value=10><endl/><textcolor value="navyblue">Sunday, 27 June, 2010 00:41:25</textcolor></indent><indent value=4><endl/></indent>"/>
End Quote
Buried in the middle of the paragraph event id=2 is the identifier "H:\TI-D-6-27-10#5". That suggests that only .tib #5 of 5 was verified, not all 5 -- #1, #2, #, & #4 are missing. (equal parts as you observed -- yes, I do set TI for a maximum image size.)
If that is the fact, the question is: Is there a method whereby an entire image can be verified, not simply it's parts -- each represented by a separate file, which apparently cannot all be selected in the verification window.
