Validation last only few seconds

Thread needs solution

I made backup of my PC using the recue medium.

Then I validate it using  TI2015 build #6613 under win10. The backup is 185 GB and the validation lasts only few seconds. After that the backup was marked as valid (green check). It is not possible that the readability of the backup was checked in this short time.

What was/is happening during this short validation process?

Can I trust the result of the validation? I don't think so.

Has somebody an explanation for that?

Heimo, welcome to these user forums.

My understanding of the validation process is that Acronis looks at the checksum data that is embedded in the .TIB file and then recalculates this to ensure that the calculated checksum matches the embedded checksum, if it does, then the file is marked as being valid.

The speed of doing validation will depend on how many files are involved in the backup version chain, i.e. a single backup image file will validate much faster than a chain that has a full backup plus 5 incremental or differential backup images.  It will also depend on the processor power of the system you are using, speed of file access etc.

Steve, thank you for your quick response!

It is just 1 tib-file with 185 GB. I think it is not possible to calculate the checksum in 3 seconds.

Heimo, please download the Log File Viewer app and check the Service logs to see if there are any messages to indicate that the validation is hitting any problems when it runs so fast.
