Verify Backup Missing On 2011 Recovery CD?

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone,

I just got ATIH 2011 and created the Recovery CD (which I also use to backup).

Upon performing my first 'cold' backup of my C-drive I can't find where I 'tell' ATIH to run a verification of the backup file immediately following completion of the backup.

Is it time for me to get new eye-glasses or is it actually not there?

If I remember correctly, you can browse to a backup, and right click on it to choose validate.

As Pat has suggested:

Thanks guys - but that doesn't 'do it' for me - too many extra steps!

I haven't used ATIH since v9, where you could enable an option so that verification (validation) would always take place immediately following every backup (automatically)!

Is that feature no longer available in ATIH 2011???

Aaron

In both the 2010 and 2011 versions of The Rescue/Recovery CD
Backup options is accessible after the target disk is selected, or
on the Summary Page.
On the "Finish" or summary page, there is
   "Optional Steps"
      Backup options
Archive validation option can be selected

Thanks Grover - your last method (directly above) is the one I'll use!

Btw, re the option 'Ignore Bad Sectors', what's your advice on that?

Aaron

If you have not checked your disk for disk errors within the past couple months, then I would check for errors.
from a command prompt
CHKDSK X: /R (WHERE X=ACTUAL DRIVE LETTER)

Ignoring bad sectors could lead to problems restoring a backup.

Makes sense.
