Very slow backups, apparently during delete operation

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm having a problem with TrueImage Home version 11 (build 8,101)

where it takes an extraordinary time to perform certain operations. In this case, it seems like each delete operation takes a minimum of 2 hours (something like 4 hours and 30 minutes). Here are a couple of snippets from the logs:

29 Information 10/31/2009 8:42:08 PM Backup deletion Location: atis:folder?file:D:\ Number of backups: 1
30 Information 10/31/2009 11:04:09 PM Backup deletion is completed successfully

and
38 Information 10/31/2009 11:04:11 PM Archive computer .closed
39 Information 10/31/2009 11:04:11 PM Backup deletion Location: atis:folder?file:D:\ Number of backups: 1
40 Information 11/1/2009 1:12:57 AM Backup deletion is completed successfully

Why does it take so long to delete items that violate quota? If not for this extraordinary delete time, instead of the backup taking about 6 hours, it would take 2 hours.

Can you help me get this straightened out?

Here's the backup report email as well as the report.txt from your diagnostic utility.

I have the same problem (same version). I'm holding off any upgrades until it looks like this is addressed. Acronis is very nice backup software in general but for me the deletion takes more than 20 hours which is far longer than the backup.

Hopefully someone will reply to these posts with a solution or work around.

Hello all,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

After the backup is created, the program checks for quota violations. The backup management is performed by the program by either consolidating incremental/differential backups that belong to the same backup chain or deleting the archives that violate quota limit if the consolidation is not possible. When the program consolidates the archives, it actually creates a new archive, associates the created file with the rest of the chain and then deletes the original files. Therefore, consolidation requires some time to be completed.

Please wait until the management is finished. The process can take as much time as required to create new full backup archive with all the data stored in the whole chain. Unfortunately, there is no solution to expedite the process.

This algorithm has been improved in Acronis True Image Home 2010, you will be able to set the same backup policy by this version, and it should work faster.

I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 available here in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store.

Please let me know if the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question.

Thank you.

I have True Image Home 2010 and it also takes me many long hours to delete an existing backup on the asz area (where full new backup takes about 30 minutes). What do I miss?
