Very slow copying files from disk image

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I'm using True Image 2009 to make an image of my hard disk and I noticed that, when I try to copy big files from the image, it takes a very long long time, even days!
I also tried to make an image without compression, thinking it was slow just because files were compressed, but it always take the same amount of time

So, can anyone explain me why it is so slow?

Hello,

Please let me apologize for the delay in response to your thread.

Such slow copying can be caused by decompression process. When you creating an image (even without compression) with our product, it compress the files anyway. And in case when you're trying to extract some file from backup, software must decompress it. That's why it may take a long time to extract the files.

Since we have fixed some issues with Explore, please make sure you use the latest build (9809), which is available here. To get access to updates you should first register Acronis software.

As a workaround, I may suggest you to use Mount option - it will assign a letter to your partition from backup (surely it must be disk\partition backup) and you will be able to copy all files faster. This option is available in Operations -> Mount Image.

The detailed information about this option is available in Chapter 12 of this User's Guide.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Best regards,
