Viewing and Editing Scheduled Task List

Thread needs solution

Unless I'm missing something, this is a major step backward in TI Home 2012. In previous versions, you could easily see a list of the scheduled tasks and when they were scheduled to run. In 2012, it's not obvious and very tedious to even see the scheduled tasks and when they are scheduled. I wish they would reinstate the old view for viewing scheduled - and unscheduled - tasks. My 2c.

One of the many shortcomings of the GUI change in 2012. I won't upgrade for those GUI reasons. Its for non technical users.

Agreed. That's why I requested and received a refund for the 2012 version. I'm happily back on the 2010 version. To Acronis's credit, they responded quickly and processed my refund in just a couple of days. I hope they've learned a lesson from my and others' experience with TI 2012. If they want to provide a simple interface for the non-technical customer, they still need to provide an advanced/expert mode with more flexibility and customization capability.

If you read a lot of threads in this and the 2012 forum you will see a huge number of unhappy customers. You can also look at Amazon reviews. It started quite a while ago with V2011 but all the complaints don't seem to have helped any with v2012. Maybe they are happy with sales. Who knows. I tried 2011 and gave up.
2010 does what I need and works fine with Windows 7. I don't use fancy bells and whistles; online backup or crazy stuff. I don't clone, but backup and restore as most experts advise. I just want simple backup to work and be assured that I can restore successfully. 2010 does that. 2011 was too hard to find stuff as you point out. Also their chains were simply non intuitive. I have even become reluctant to do incrementals or backups of system drives while logged on.
I had a hard drive go bad and I restored fine. 2010 works for me
I wish they would provide the basic that work in a GUI like 2010 rather than 2011/12. Keep it simple and it all works fine in that version.

I have Acronis v2016 True Image. I upgraded to v2016 from v2010 only because v2010 would not work on Win10. I was completely satisfied with v2010. It did everything I needed. Now I'm running v2016 and it's a total PITA.

When I installed v2016 I created a mirror image of the backup task I've been running for years. I had a RAID failure (caused by a Windows 10 update) a couple of months ago and was completely unable to use the weekly backups I've been creating for several months. I had to restore my system to a point prior to the Win10 update and create another backup. Even then using this backup for the restore did not work. I ended up using the Windows copy/paste function to restore my files from the Acronis v2016 backup. This took many hours. This leads me to wonder if I have a real failure where data is lost can I rely on Acronis v2016 to restore the backups I’m taking each week.

The next problem I’m having is that the backup task I created after the failure continues to run TWICE every week along with my regular weekly backup task. I can’t figure out how to stop it. It’s filling up my disk.

In V2010 it was very easy to create backup tasks and edit those tasks and change parameters of the created tasks. In v2016 I can’t even find my previous tasks to edit the parameters. Acronis v2016 seems to be a huge step backwards. It seems like the Acronis goal is to force everyone to use their cloud service which I have no intentions of doing.

Every time I crank Acronis v2016 up it wants me to create a new backup task. Does anyone have any idea how to view a list of the tasks that have been created and edit and/or delete those previously created tasks?

Restoring a previously created backup is a completely different challenge that I’ll search for answers on a different thread.

Jeff, these issues should be posted in the Acronis True Image 2016 Forum rather in this one for Older versions.

All your created tasks should show in the ATIH 2016 main GUI, especially if these are running as scheduled activities and creating backup files.  If they are not being shown in the GUI, then you will need to download and use the Acronis Scheduler Manager (link in my signature below) which can be used to clear out any orphaned scheduled tasks.  Run the schedmgr.exe as administrator then in the command prompt type window that is shown, issue the command get list to see a list of all scheduled tasks (you can try matching the names shown against the file names in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder where you should have one .TIS file for each task).  You can issue the command task zap to clean out all the scheduled tasks for a fresh start.

The only reason why ATIH 2016 should want to prompt you to create a new backup task, is if you have no such tasks shown in the GUI.  If that is truly the case, then it sounds very much like your ATIH install has been damaged or corrupted.  I would recommend doing a Repair install by downloading the latest 2016 build 6581 from your Acronis Account and then installing this over the top of the current installation.
