VSS off

Thread needs solution

Does ATI15 turn off Volume Shadow copy? I was palying around with the WX options and found I do not have any VS copies.

I did find that there is a tab on properties that shows ATI copies. Is that just and inteception of the VSS call?

I have a problem with the option to restore via that Acronis option in that the dialog box is not fully visible (see attached jpeg), is there a way to correct this w/o changing my window settings which are where I require them to be?

If I want to use just manual drive imaging and not any of the other options, what services can I stop?

acronisti, welcome to these user forums.

ATIH 2015 does not touch VSS or Shadow Copies other than to use these functions when creating its own backup images when it uses VSS to create the snapshot for the backup.

Windows 10 defaults to turning off System Protection which creates / maintains System Restore Points, so this is probably why you are seeing no VS copies.

I am not familiar with the image that you attached as this is not from a part of the ATIH 2015 application GUI and not a part of any Acronis recovery process.

Hello Steve

Windows 10 defaults to turning off System Protection which creates / maintains System Restore Points, so this is probably why you are seeing no VS copies.

My system protection is on must be something else going on.

I am not familiar with the image that you attached as this is not from a part of the ATIH 2015 application GUI and not a part of any Acronis recovery process.

Why then does the Tab say "Acronis Recovery"??

Most curious!

Any ideas on the Services I can safely undeploy??

Thanks for your help

David

David, it been a little while since I used ATIH 2015 so have only just remembered that Acronis went through a spell of integrating into Windows and replacing the backup function, so your image is probably related to that integration.

For the Services question, see KB document: 44350: Acronis True Image 2015/2014: Processes and Services which gives details of what each service does to help you decide which ones to disable.

Thanks Steve
I will give that article a look
