W& and SSD with TI Home 2010

Thread needs solution

Building a new system - it will be a clean install of W7 64bit Professional. I have TrueImage 2010.

I plan on having two SSD's AND a 1TB SATA drive in the system.

If I do an image backup of the SSD to the sata drive and ultimately have to restore it to the SSD will the partition alignment be affected or will it just work normally?

Thanx,

Vic

I just got a SSD and TI 2010 build 7046 images and restores without messing up the alignment.
See a post I made over at ABXzone for more info. http://www.abxzone.com/forums/f155/intel-x25-m-g2-80-gig-120145.html
Post #7 has some screen shots showing how to check sector offset.

WonderWrench,

Was the partition alignment correct before the image was taken?

When creating the backup image, did you perform a disk option backup where everything on the disk (all partitions) were included in the backup image? or did you perform only a single partition backup?
When restoring, did you restore only the System partition or did you perform a restore of the entire disk.

thanks for you info.

I formatted the drive from within Windows 7 as my link shows and partition alignment was correct as shown.
Its only an 80 gig drive and there is only one partition so it was a full disk backup and restore. I have not tested backing up and restoring only the boot partition on a multi partition drive. I hope it will work and I'm going to find out when time permits. I want all my PC's to be ready for SSD's and or 4k sector magnetic drives.
