Wake Up Computer Function Not Operating on Windows 8.1

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone,

I upgraded to TI 2014 from TI 2013 very recently, and I noticed that the "Wake Computer" option on my backups is not functioning. I backup my laptop on off hours, e-mail backup and file backup. This worked perfectly in TI 2013, and I noticed that my backups were not happening until I opened my laptop.

The Backups perform well and execute completely, just not during the early morning hours! :-)

Thanks for everyone's help and assistance. With all my best,
John

Same thing happening to me - backups scheduled during the night don't start on my desktop machine until I log on in the morning.

It seems that with every version there are some bugs coming back or changes in Windows that make them coming back, not sure...
A good way to work around your issue is to use the Windows task scheduler to run your backup. It is actually more flexible than the built in scheduler. To find the "program" and the "parameters" that a windows task needs, create a shortcut of your backup task from the Acronis UI. Then look at the properties of that shortcut to find out the required information.

It should be noted that since the release of Win 8.1 there are many devices that wake or power on issues have surfaced. Device manufacturers need to catch up with new driver releases that conform to Win 8.1 power management schemes so that these devices work as intended. Until then workarounds for the problem devices such as disabling power management options so that the device remains in a power always on state may well be the only solution,

I have found that in version 2014 and windows 8.1 that the startup file that is load in the tray continually crashes silently and thus any schedule events fail to happen. So the question is why is the process crashing repeatedly?
