wake up option missing?

Thread needs solution

My advanced scheduling options in Scheduler Page (in Acronis 2013) offers me this:

"Prevent the computer from going to sleep/hibernate"

but not this

"Wake up the sleeping/hibernating computer"

When I click the help icon on the same page, it says

"If you want to wake up the sleeping/hibernating computer to perform the scheduled operation, select the Wake up the sleeping/hibernating computer check box."

So the Help instructions point to a function that is missing. There is no function to WAKE a computer that is already sleeping; only a function to prevent a computer from going to sleep once Acronis has started to create the archive.

Anyone now why the wake-up function is missing, despite the fact that it is mentioned in the Help article for version 2013?

My suggestion would be
Restart the 2013 installation download file and it will offer a repair option.
Do the repair and see if that helps, otherwise, uninstall and reinstall.
The opiton that is missing is part of the normal install.

I'm interested in trying this option out. Can you tell me where I might expect to find it, I've tried looking around the software and can't see anything like it.

My TI2013 install was initially the 30day trial version which I then 'bought'.

Michael,
Hopefully, you have entered your purchased serial number into your TI application and created a new Recovey CD so your CD is a fully functioning one. Also be sure you have registered your purchased serial number into your Acronis account so you can get access to your 2013 updates--when released.

The option is part of the scheduler.
Clcik "turn on" scheduler and then look under "Advanced Settings".
This function is only accessible on a per task basis.

Like the OP I do not have that option displayed to me (!?). I do have the option to prevent the compluter from going to sleep/hiberbate, but not the option to wake up a sleeping computer - it simply isn't there.

As stated in my post, I only downloaded the trial version of 2013 less than 30 days ago, and bought the purchase key less than 3 days ago. I know my key 'works' because the previously unavailable option to clone a disc is now present and correct.

I do not understand. If I uninstall and reinstall TI2013 on my computer is my newly purchased 'key' going to work with this new install? Or will this lead to a flood of tears?

Update:

I registered my product as suggested by GroverH and downloaded build 5551. Used the repair installation option but the 'wake up' function did not appear under advanced settings.

Completely uninstalled TI2013 and performed a clean install of build 5551. The 'wake up' function still not not appear. Confused.

Sorry to have hijacked this thread.

What OS and version are you all using?

It is possible that for some versions of Windows or settings the option won't appear.

Just one other question - is sleeping and or hibernation enabled or disabled in Windows?

OK, I think this is a Windows version problem.

On Windows 7 Ultimate and above, there is an option to wake from hibernation, on Windows 7 Home and Windows 8 this option does not appear.

This is the same as the Acronis Boot Manager that only works with Windows Vista and 7 Ultimate and above.

The comments have been interesting about the problem I first raised.

First, I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit -- SP1

Second, I downloaded the most recent version of Acronis True Image (again) and used the Repair function as suggested. The wake-up function still does not appear in the Scheduler.

Strange.

I do appear to have both 'sleep' and 'hibernation' on my PC - under start>shutdown>hibernation and start>shutdown>sleep.

If I select 'hibernation' the PC does do that, but the only way that I can wake it up again is to press the usual 'power' button and then the PC comes alive again although I have to logon as usual.

If I select 'sleep' the PC does do that, I can wake it up by pressing any keyboard button, but I still have to logon as usual.

It appears to me (as a computer novice) that even if Acronis was able to wake up my PC it would fall at the first fence because it appears the PC needs to be logged back on for the PC to be usable, I can't see how Acronis could bypass that requirement? - but I am a computer novice.

Richard - do you mind if I continue to post to this thread which you started, I did not mean to take it over but I hope you will agree that we are both benefitting from the exchanges?

As I mentioned, I think the True Image wake up option only works for Vista/W7 Ultimate and Enterprise versions.

I have no explanation as to why this would be, I know why the Acronis Start Up Manager only works with Ultimate and Enterprise, whiich is due to some secuirty features that are only enabled in those versions as well as the fact it is only those versions that can boot VHD files natively. Whether there is a similar restriction on wake up and power management for the various versions of Vista/W7 I'm unsure and will have to research.

Thanks for your response. This is a 'would be nice to have' rather than 'must have' for me, so please do not spend time on my behalf looking for a solution for me. Can't speak for the OP of course, but please don't spend any more time on this for my sole benefit. Very pleased with this product generally I have to say.

It's an old thread, but since I faced the same problem and found a solution, for others who might find this via a search engine, here goes:
You need to change the advanced power options to "allow wake timers". You will then see the "wake the hibernating computer" option in the scheduler option of Acronis.
Good luck.

Christian,
Thank you for the reminder as to its sometimes hidden location.
