Want to start back ups again, what procedure to use ?

Thread needs solution

I purchased the full version of True Image 10 in December 2008. I have backed up data only since then, incrumentally. Now I want to start afresh, but backing up the whole system this time. What is the correct procedure for doing this please ? My My Documents Acronis folder shows the .pdf manual plus all the incremental Backups I have done. Should I delete these Backup individual files and go to the Acronis Programme and reset my wishes, or just run a new complete system Backup, THEN delete the old files ?

Most definitely, I would not in any hurry to delete the prior backups. I would retain indefinitely but you might want to copy them to a external disk, etc. Use copy , do not use the "move" option. Once you have them copied to a new location. Then boot from the Rescue Cd and validate in their new location. After they successfully validate, then you can delete the originals.

Should you get a virus or a disk problem and need to create a replacement disk, you will need a disk option backup which is a backup that includes all partitions on the disk and that will include both the MBR/track0 plus the disk signature. For more info about this type backup, click on the yellow colored link in my signature below and select index item #3.
