Warning: Don't use present build of Acronis True Image Home 2011

Thread needs solution

Only some of my experiences with build 5519:

- program crashs in several situations
- backup adjustments get lost
- backup process stopps with error message in about half of backup runs
- badly arranged design: buttons, describing texts and menues are arranged in a confusing manor, like in Windows 7 at it's badest site! It's like a Matryoshka doll: let's have a look what's hidden behind the next menue or submenue or subsubmenue ...

My résumé: this build is an alpha-test version, not suitable for any security relevant task. After several hours waste I will return to True Image Home 2010.

Hi Bruce

To be more specific means to write a sequel to Tolstoy's 'War and Peace' ;-)

The errors in this build seems to be various, just follow the discussion in this forum. I've had a longer exchange of emails with Acronis support by myself. They couldn't help me. Version 2011 build 5519 appears to be a big decline comparing it to the last build of ATIH 2010. It's a requirement for any backup software to run reliable. This requirement is fulfilled by ATIH 2011 in no way.

I've posted my warning for all users having installed ATIH 2010 right now: they should not switch to ATIH 2011 until a better build is comming from Acronis.

I've found it to be completely _un_usable for *email* backups, but it's working at least as well as 2010 for file backups, partition backups, and nonstop backups. Nonstop backup seems much more stable, but that may have a lot to do with setting it to back up just my Users subfolder instead of the whole partition.

The candy-colored built-for-nearsighted-morons interface is a substantial annoyance. Gag. My primary monitor is 1920x1200 pixels and I can't see all my backup tasks without scrolling :-(

I have a Dell laptop with a WUXGA LCD screen (1920 x 1200) pixels. The startup control screen of Acronis True Image 2011, build 6852 and earlier ones, overlaps words and makes them impossible to read. Specifically: the words under the backup progress line are unreadable.

Previous releases of Acronis Backup do not have this problem, that is, prior to Acronis True Image 2011. (I've been using Acronis for years.)

I need all pixels for graphic programs and really don't want to reset the LCD every time I run Acronis. Can you fix this in your next build??
