When Restoring a Sector by Sector Backup...

Thread needs solution

...will the MBR be restored automatically, or must I (somehow) enable this?

Explanation: Using the Acronis Boot CD I made a cold sector by sector backup of my C-drive as I was informed that this type of backup is the only reliable way to image a Rollback Rx system (capturing the Rollback Rx snapshots). Now I want to restore that backup, including the MBR (by using the Boot CD).

If you have done a full disk backup (you have checked the box at the disk level), your backup contains the data you need.

Boot your computer on the Acronis recovery medium, choose recover disks and partitions, navigate to your backup, and, when selecting what to restore, check the box at the disk level.

Pat,

Thanks for your reply but I don't see how it answers my question re the MBR ...maybe it does and I just don't understand?

If you have an entire disk backup and do an entire disk restore, the MBR will be restored. When you do a partial restore (for example, only one partition among others), you can select the MBR+Track0 to restore the MBR.
