Why is the backup up size triple of the original file size

Thread needs solution

Hi there, I was wondering why my 14 GB photo folder is ending up in a photo.tib that is 49.6 GB ? That does not make any sense at all. I selected the "high" compression settings and that should be far less then the original file size?

Anexplicationon of this would help, thank you.

Are you backing up online or to a local disk? Are you doing a file/folder backup? If you mount the backup image, are there any other items in it in addition to the photo folder. If you are backing up online, the default selection includes your My Documents folder.

so what is the solution?

i have the same problem immediately after i bought the product.

As neither of you answered James' questions, it's impossible for us to know what to tell you. Likely you're backing up much more than you think you are.

I have one drive that its used size is 163 GB. Acronis calculates more than 530 GB. so where the other stuff is coming from?
regardless how do I fix the problem? i just want to back up this 163 GB.

You still did not answer the questions.
