Why can't I get an error free backup?

Thread needs solution

These days just about every attempt to create a backup ends up with a failure of some sort. Either that or a successful backup later shows up as bust.

The log for today's session shows the error:

"Backup date cannot be found."

Point the software at the KnowledgeBase and it can't find anything. (Has anyone ever had any success at following those links? I haven't.)

What does this mean. How do I fix it.

I don't do anything tricksy, simply take True Image through its paces.

I hate to think what would happen if I tried to restore one of these backups.

I am about to install alternative software. I don't think I will be coming back to Acronis, after five years of misplaced faith in its protection.

I'm reasonably competent at this computer stuff. Heaven help a neophyte.
