why verify full backup after each differential?
OK, so, let's say I have a large drive backed up to an external drive- and that the 4 TB internal drive has a TB of data. I have my backup designed to do a full backup then 5 differential backups, then start again, retaining only 1 full backup.
The backup is also setup to verify after each backup. The differential file is much smaller than the full drive- but when the program does the verify routine- it apparently verifies not just the differential file but the entire chain. Is this necessary - especially when the full backup is very large?
I also use Macrium Reflect backup program- which doesn't verify the entire chain- only the new file. The reason I use Acronis is that this large drive (my 2nd internal drive) includes several Macrium backups of my boot drive- and Macrium has no way to exclude any files in a drive backup- but Acronis does- so I backup this drive and have it exclude *.mrimg files (the Macrium backup files). (the Macrium community thinks it's a bad idea to allow exclusions to drive backups)
I suppose what I'll do is no longer have the backups verified for each backup- but only periodically. I just don't see how it would be risky for Acronis to not verify all files in the chain- but, I'm not an IT expert. Or, maybe this should be an option?
