Will consolidation ever be fixed?

Thread needs solution

Why hasn't Acronis ever done anything to fix the extremely buggy file consolidation present in all home versions?

Despite numerous reports they just respond with bottled responses and blame users or their hardware.

Typically a consolidation goes like this:-

1.
TIH creates inc/dif back up file with no problem.
Starts creating temporary consolidation file.
Stops creating file at around 10% but stills shows "consolidating".
Attempting to stop from UI is never resolved.
Attempting to stop from still animating notification icon results in icon changing to static one with cross, but TIH still thinks its still running.
Only way to stop it is kill the trueimagehomeservice.exe process.
Net result Partial/corrupt temp backup file which you can delete, if you dont the TIH has a 50/50 chance of picking this file up and and adding it as a new separate backup.

2.
Other times the consolidation appear to have worked, but the whole (or maybe if you are lucky only the last few backups) are now corrupt.

3.
Same as 2 but now TIH data for the backup isnt updated and TIH thinks you haven't consolidated so now attempts to access files deleted by the consoldation. At the same time often a new backup is created in the UI with name of the temp file used to create the colsolidation file. Sometimes this new file actually is your data sometimes it isnt (if so the old name entry in the UI is a mishmash of backups that don't exist).

All 3 happen(ed) fairly frequently for myself and friends in all the "home" versions of TI.
Luckily no important data has been lost, but consolidation should be a genuinely useful function and not feel like you are playing russian roulette with you data!!
Every year I hope you've fixed it, and every year you disappoint by adding/renaming features and countless new bugs and leaving all the old bugs to fester.

PLEASE FFS! CHOOSE TO FIX REAL BUGS and not just change the UI slightly and slap on 2015 label on it!

AFAIK, most of us MVPs don't use consolidation. We prefer to set limits for the backup set (by age, total number of backups, or total size of backup set) in the options of the backup task. That works more reliably than consolidation.
