Will Recovery overwrite all data

Thread needs solution

I did something very stupid trying to fix my wife's laptop. After several attempts to solve the problem I just decided to use the last full backup I had and restore that. By mistake I used the backup from another laptop. I took it but put in lots of unusable data. I I restore again using the correct backup will it overwrite all of the data or will it just restore her data leaving all else. If it will work should I use partition restore or files and folders.

Hello Richard!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this question, I will be glad to assist you!

You are perfectly correct: in case you restore again using the correct Full backup it will overwrite all of the data, including operating system. In case you need just the files from the backup, you can either mount it or explore and take needed files out of it. You can also choose restoring particular files from the full backup. Please kindly check chapter 12 in the User's Guide for more details regarding image mount and exploration.
