Windows 10

Thread needs solution

Tried true image 2015 to clone a win 10 hdd all worked fine but on booting to new clone the system would go into windows but then the screen would constantly flash between the desktop and a black screen, tried a few things to no avail, any ideas?

I then created an image of win 10 hdd which I then restored to another hdd and that worked ok.

I didn't try to clone on Windows 10 yet, but to clone successfully:
- do the clone from the recovery CD, not from Windows,
- put the destination on the connectors of the source, and the source on some other connector,
- do not reboot the computer with both disks in. Disconnect the source boot the computer.

Not sure if I should post this as a new question, but I can't get TI to backup my Windows 10 laptop. I can view all my old tib files, open/explore, etc. But when I try to backup and select "Entire PC", it says the backup size is 0 bytes.

I did a search and this might be the solution to your problem:

Open task manager ... under file (top left) "Run new task" ... type msconfig (yes it is hard to type as screen blinks, but it can be done) ... In the new box that opens (it may be behind the task manager box) go to Service Tab .... Scroll until you find 2 tasks that need to be stopped ... (1) Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel Support .... (2) Windows Error Report Service.... Disable these by unchecking .... Click Apply ... Click OK ... If you are prompted to restart, then restart computer .....

The ATI UI can easily lose track of the existing backups or indicate a wrong size. While not an issue, it decreases the confidence that a restore would work fine. It is theoretically possible to fix this kind of issue by removing (not deleting) the backup from the list, and then adding it back.

My recommendation however is to do the following:
- shut down ATI,
- delete all files in the c:\programdata\Acronis\ACronisTrueImage\Database folder
- move your existing backup files into another directory on the same disk (to avoid a long copy)
- restart ATI, create a new task in an empty directory.

Note that this is the procedure I followed on my 3 recently upgraded Windows 10 computers at home without any issue.
