Windows 7 backup

Thread needs solution

I have made a backup (on an external drive) of selected files on vista and now wants to make a new installation of Windows 7. This will offcourse mean a new installation also of True Image. However I'm concerned if I will be able to get the files back on the new installation. Anybody?

It shouldn't be a problem to access the backups from the new installation of TI.

You may also want to consider making a backup image of the Vista partition if you think there may be any files that got missed in the file-based backup. I often find this to be helpful.

I hope you have ensured you can read and recover your files on the external drive right now under Vista. If you can, then it should work fine under W7.

If you have some very important files you couldn't live without, you can also make a safety copy just by copying them using Windows Explorer to the external drive. Or you can just copy them all for that matter.

Make an image of your Vista installation in case you need to go back to it for some reason.
