Windows 7 Backup is deactive after Deinstallation of True Image 2012

Thread needs solution

Hello.

Can you perhaps help me?
I installed True Image 2012 Testversion and deinstalled it a few Days later.
Since that, my Windows 7 (x64) build in Backup Tools doesn´t start anyone. No Error Message, just nothing.

I opend services, the Service "Windows-Sicherung" (I´m German) which I think is important therefor is runnig.

Thank you

Thank you.
But it didn´t help. First of all the integration DOES NOT still shows in Control Panel -> System and Security -> Backup and Restore anyway.
Second I was not even able to "Turn on Windows Backup" when Aronis was still installed.

Third, the registry entry "resourcedll" can not be imported in my System.

Sorry you couldn't import the registry fix, but there is a method to manually add the entries into the registry. See this link: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-w7-backup-restore-acronis-true-im…

Thanks.

But when I come to this Point:

7. Run the Windows 7 Backup Restore – Shell Folder Registry Fix. Download Fix-W7BackupKeys.zip, unzip and run the REG file.

You’ve fixed the Windows 7 Backup shell folder key. Next, restore TrustedInstaller back as the owner of the above registry key, and revoke Full Control permission for the Administrators group.

I again can´t import registry fix.

Okay, glad you found something to work with in German.

I have the same problem and I've researched how to repair . . but the "fix" is only for 32 bit, doesn't work on 64. I'm getting desperate as I have to send my laptop away and I just KNOW they're going to format the disk (I'm sure the repairers under warranty do this for spite . .lol).

Afraid not. That's what I tried, but the fix download is only for a 32 bit system, mine's a 64 bit. The error message advises that I get the 64 bit version, but I can't find that anywhere . . .:-(

What about post#36 here http://forum.acronis.com/forum/14782?

Sorry, couldn't find anything useful there . . . surprisingly, I just got a "check your backup important" notification from Windows and when I clicked on it, I was able to start a backup. It's been running for a few hours now so it will be interesting to see if it works . . . .

Well, that didn't work . . . think I'll go look for some free backup software. Never liked Windows Backup anyway . . .

Hello Lorriane,
While the automated feature to restore windows back up function is great, there is a manual method to revert back to Windows Back Up when Acronis Integration is no longer desired or is removed. The Clean Up Utility can be used to remove the product from your machine. Part of the product uninstall process is manually disabling the integration feature before uninstall and/or running the removal tool.

If you find yourself in a situation where Acronis has been removed, but the registry pointers for integration still exist then Windows Back Up will not function correctly. If this is true, you need to modify the permissions on the registy keys you wish to change manually (steps are in post #36) which will restore Windows Back Up functionality.

Thanks for the advice Shadowsports but I just don't get it. I installed the fix offered in that post through this link http://kb.acronis.com/content/14741 but nothing has changed. I also followed instructions yesterday to change the ownership of the directory file after which I'm supposed to apply another "fix" which I downloaded, but it doesn't work on a 64 bit system.

I installed Acronis when I was trying to recover lost data . . . it didn't work . . I uninstalled it. I had no idea I needed to go to so much trouble BEFORE uninstalling and now, I'm unable to backup my system. I've spent hours on this with no solution yet and getting pretty despondent . . . . Paid for some software yesterday that was supposed to fix the problem . . . asking for yet another refund today. Nobody seems to make user friendly software anymore . . . you know, the one that beeps at you and the error message is "one of us has made a mistake" . . . . lol.
