Windows 7 clone from one SSD to another (different) SSD

Thread needs solution

Can I use TIH 2011, current version to clone a WIndows 7 64 bit enterprise install onto another drive/PC. The other PC has the same motherboard, a similar CPU but a different SSD. I'd liek to avoid the fullload process from scratch. THe source PC is newly built with all the drivers, and Windows updates.

I heard there were issues with SSD's and imaging. Something about sector size problems. The target PC and drive are new, never formatted.

Thanks,
Scott

Yes, most likely you can but a better solution might be to also have the plus pack which will restore to dis-similar hardware. You have nothing to lose by trying it but do read the link in tan color in my signature link below.

The issue which you raise is the starting sector location needed by the SSD which is usually 2048 for Windows 7. If the source disk has a starting sector of 2048, then the target will assume that same starting location. If you run system information, you will find the starting sector location under the Components/storage/disks/Partition Starting Offset. In Win7, mine correctly reads as 1,048,576 bytes.

Partitioning and pre-format is not needed if the source disk shows the 1,048,576 bytes as the starting offset.

If your offset is wrong, then you will need to use Win7 and create the first partition on the blank disk which will be done with the correct offset.

The EULA does restrict the use of the program to one computer.
