Windows 8 Recover Hangs 'starting Acronis UEFI loader'

Thread needs solution

I need to restore my computer to the backup that was created two days ago. From the Windows8 Start screen I started TrueImage2013 (version 6514). I selected the backup image. after awhile it said that a restart was required so I did a restart. The screen displayed "Starting Acronis UEFI Loader...". After 20 minutes it's still displaying the same screen and it looks like the computer is not doing anything.

I'm running Windows 8 64-bit.

the same problems

First. Version 2013 does not support Windows 8.1

Second. User of 2013 and Windows 8.1 are eligible for a free upgrade to 2014 which does support 8.1

Third. Any restore of your system is best done from the user created TrueImage Recovery CD.

Took me a while to figure it out.
As the GroverH stated you have to boot TrueImage from the alternate source like CD or USB key. I was actually cloning the laptop disc when it happened. What worked for me was to:
1. Create bootable USB key with the TrueImage
2. Put the new HDD in and take the old HDD out of the laptop
3. Connect the old HDD to be cloned into via USB
4. Boot from the USB key with the TrueImage and clone discs
5. Restart

In fact, that is the recommended procedure and anyone who browsed the forums for advice before cloning would discover that.

Also, creating a full disk mode backup and restoring it is safer than cloning.

Been hours and hours. Nothing like the instructions. Garbage software... Should have went Samsung....

Kevin, sorry but cannot help you with so little information being provided.

If you have a current or ongoing problem you need help with, then please raise a New Topic of your own in the relevant forum for the version of the Acronis product you are using, and we will try to help you as best we can.  This particular forum topic was created 4 years ago with the last update nearly 3 years ago, so is unlikely to attract much interest.

Hi Steve, same problem, using the Acronis True Image 2015 cloning disk procedure downloaded yesterday, with a brand new crucial MX300 SSD, and a HP PC with windows 10.

Do you need more information?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to these user forums.

Please open a New Topic for this issue in the Acronis True Image 2015 Forum but read post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!! first and ensure that you understand the recommendations for how cloning should be done.

Then maybe they should change the instructions.  Here it is 3 years later and the issue remains.  I have Win10 and have the same issue.

DeWayne, welcome to these User Forums.

I would again request that you raise a new Topic if you have a current problem with Acronis Recovery.  This topic is over 4 years old and was originally reported for ATIH 2013 which is not supported for use with Windows 10.

In your new topic, please tell us which particular Acronis True Image version you are using, what you are trying to recover and how you are trying to do the recovery?  Then we will try to help you if we are able to do so.
