Windows 8 Secure Boot on Acer V3-571 laptop USB boot error

Thread needs solution

Using latest TI 2013 and created rescue USB.
Get "USB HDD: has been blocked by current security policy" error msg.
I though the Acronis loader Hotfix would have solved this problem.
Can anyone shed any light on this error?

There are two version of True Image 2013. The original release build (5551) and the first updated release (6514).

Only build 5551 can have the Secure Boot Hotfix applied to it. The 6514 build has the Hotfix include in it.

Which version are you running?

Also when attempting to boot to the True Image program created CD/DVD/Flash drive Rescue Media, when booting on an UEFI firmware based system, the boot should be to something that looks like the following: EFI DVD/CD Drive, EFI USB Drive, or EFI Network Drive.

The message "USB HDD: has been blocked by current security policy" you are receiving is because you are attempting a non-EFI boot process with Secure Boot enabled in your firmware.

Check to see if you have the option to boot to an EFI enabled device as listed above.

Thanks for your help.

I am using 6514.
There is only a UEFI or Legacy BIOS setting shown under the Boot Mode in the Acer V3-571 BIOS.
The boot priority order needs to have Windows Boot Manager as the first entry.
Found that the F12 was turned off, now ON.
Using the F12 option to select the Acronis USB drive I get the Acronis start screen but when I select option #1
the display is no longer readable all the characters a slanted.
No option in the Acer BIOS to change screen setting.
This Acer V3-571 is using the Intel HD 4000 graphics chipset.
Tried using the vga=0x305, then vga=ask both did not solve the video problem.

Peter,

You would need to contact Acronis support directly for help with this issue.

Since this is a Restore/Recovery issue (since you would not be able to boot to the Rescue Media), you are entitled to no-charge support.

Hello Peter

First off all excuse my bad english.

I live in Germany and I have the same problem like you. I use an Acer Notebook Aspire V3- 571 too and I have exactly the same problems you mentioned in your post #2.

I have already contacted the acronis support, but until yet without solution. They say, I shall wait for the next build and hope .....

I am an old Acronis user but it isn't the first time I have problems with bootable media in new products and I am very disapointed.

Hi Siegfried, Acronis is not the only software that is having boot problems with the UEFI BIOS.

Hi Peter,

Acer V3-571 are available in different configurations. So I am interested in what configuration are you work with.

I use an Acer V3-571 G with a Full HD Screen, an internal Intel HD 4000 Graphics and separate NVIDIA GT 640 M Graphics with 2GB memory.

Hi Siegfried, I have the Acer V3-571-6636 that uses the Intel HD 4000 chipset in the i5-3210m cpu.
