Windows 8 won't boot after installing Acronis True Image Plus pack
Hi,
After having replaced my defective motherboard i decided to do a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit edition. Everything seems to work just fine untill i install True Image. After the installation Windows won't boot up anymore. I tried this several times with the same result. Everything worked well before and True Image works fine on my notebook, also running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. Any ideas on what to do now?

None of the above. All I did was install True Image and the Plus pack and restart the system.

What happens when you boot exactly?

The screen with the round shape (wait sign) appears, I can't get past that. When I run system recovery of the Windows DVD I get the message that Windows is unable to boot and the installed apps get deleted.

After I install Acronis True Image 2013, the installation is flawless. The only problem is that every time I boot up Windows 8 Pro everything appears to to be OK. But the home screen locks up. There are no live icons and I can not do anything with the PC. I have to go to the task manager and fiddle around or Restart and then everything works normally. If I uninstall True Image the problem disappears. I installed and uninstalled twice with the same result.

The MBR is missing or replaced and can be fixed quickly. Don't freak out your main windows partition is still there ready to go. Use your windows installation CD or make a windows installation USB or connect the drive that isn't booting to a working windows computer. On another windows computer just go to start and type cmd otherwise, you boot from CD or USB to recovery/repair and get to a command prompt. Type BCDBOOT at the command prompt for a list of possible commands. I used a USB that I had loaded win 8.1 installer on so once I got to the command prompt I switched to the unbootable c: drive then typed:
bcdboot c:\windows /s c: UEFI
to fix my drive. It will work you may need to use another iteration of the BCDBOOT so just typing bcdboot will give you the other options for your system.
