Windows Backup *still* runs - How to STOP Windows Backup from running?

Thread needs solution

I've used Acronis True Image Home for about a year, on several PC's. I've waited until this latest 2013 release to see if it fixed this problem. It has not.

Windows Backup continues to run on a schedule and does backups, as it did before I installed Acronis. Even though Acronis takes over from Windows Backup, and once would assume that Windows Backup should no longer run, it still does.

How do I make Windows Backup stop running and eating up disk space needlessly, since Acronis is my backup tool of choice?

Thanks,

Have you looked in your Windows Task Scheduler.
Type scheduler into the computer search windows.
Select Task Scheduler
Look inside the Task Scheduler Library for one based on the backup.

Above is for a Windows 7 machine.

GroverH, I think you nailed it. I looked deeply within Task Scheduler Library, and under Microsoft/Windows/WindowsBackup there were 3 Tasks:

AutomaticBackup
ConfigNotification
Windows Backup Monitor

I will start by DISABLING all 3 and I'll bet that takes care of that.

Now the only question remains for Acronis, is why does True Image Backup NOT DISABLE the Windows Backup Tasks once it takes over doing backups?

Thanks again.

You probably have heard the ol' saying. One man's trash is another man's treasure. or the likes of one man is the dislikes of another. Despite how hard Acronis tries, it has not mastered the art of "mind readiing". ...but they keep trying......:)

Ok, I spoke too soon. The Scheduled Tasks AutomaticBackup and Windows Backup Monitor reverted on their own back to Ready and are running on the schedule.

I'm suspecting that even if I Delete them, they'll return.

Other thoughts?

Get the windows services back to where they were.
Launch Acronis True Image, go to the gear menu close to the help menu. Disable Windows integration. You should get your windows backup control panel back. Disable the backup from there.
