Windows Cannot Find File Error
I have a system of Daily File Backups on an uptodate Win 7 computer and Acronis True Image Home 2010 install. I cannot open any of these files which otherwise are validated as okay.
Error dialog looks like: "Windows cannot find "E\Friday_2_25_2010.tib\0DB28484-0127-0000-7B7B-4DF2D8FEFFFF" for one example.
Of course, on the disk, the file name ends with .tib. I do not know why Acronis adds the additional name designation. But Windows won't open it.
This is true of every archive file I have tried to open through Data Recovery and Backup Management dialog.
The same thing happens for Disk Backups (image of the whole c: drive).
The backup archive drive is an internal listed as drive e:. I have other backup data on it (KeepSafe), and this data is accessible in a normal way. Chkdsk results are normal.
Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks,
Ron

Hi Oleg,
I cannot explore the archives from within Acronis File Recovery Wizard.
I am not sure why I must specifically mount a drive for Acronis to read its own archive file or to read file backups. But anyway, yes, I was able to mount one of the image files and access files via Windows Explorer.
I really do not want to reinstall True Image unless there is a way to independently save my complex of backup Tasks. It is set up for multiple redundancy with 8 scheduled tasks. (I didn't say, but I do have the latest version, build 6053). Can you help me save these tasks so that the reinstall can use them without reprogramming them?
Regards,
Ron

Hello Ron,
Thank you for your response.
We do not have a tool to export the tasks. To avoid the recreating you can perform a repair installation of Acronis True Image Home 2010. Launch the installation file of the program and select the Repair option.
Also the issue can be caused by file system errors.
Please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.
This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi Oleg,
All is well. The repair re-install did the trick. I wish I had known that option was available. I would have tried it first!
Thanks and regards,
Ron
