Windows didn't load after backup

Thread needs solution

Hi, I made a backup via Acronis 2021 with WinPE, transferred it to a new laptop, but I had an error, then I thought it would be worth installing drivers from another laptop on this system and then make a backup, when I rebooted the laptop, it stopped loading. And for the 5th day I can't figure out what the reason is
I also ruled BCD and overwritten the backup not on a massive raid, but on a regular ssd.

Today I made a backup of the System,Sam-etc files from a clean system and threw them into the restored backup and the system booted
What about the old system?Where to look and what to fix?

Hello!

Welcome to the forum.

For that operation, I would recommend using the AUR instead. Please refer to the KB and follow the suggestions: AUR KB Link

Regarding the issue you mentioned, more details about the recovery method and all the steps would be needed to provide you with a precise answer. I would suggest the following:

  • The BCD for the old system got corrupted during the process. You might want to use Windows recovery tools or boot from a Windows installation media to repair the bootloader.

  • The changes you made to the drivers on the new laptop might not be compatible with the old laptop's hardware. This could lead to boot failures. You may need to reinstall the original drivers or try to boot into Safe Mode to uninstall any problematic drivers.

  • Ensure that the backup of the old system is complete and not corrupted. If the backup file itself is damaged, it won't be possible to restore the old system (validate the backup in the console).

Best regards.

There are either errors on the Bootcamp partition or Acronis drivers cannot access the partition.

You can try the following:

  1. Boot into the Bootcamp partition
  2. Launch checkdisk to fix possible errors on the partition:
    • Go to the Command Line: Start -> in search, type cmd and press Enter.
    • Enter the following command:
      chkdsk DISK: /r
    • where DISK is the drive you want to check, for example, C:

Thanks.
