Windows fails to boot after Acronis True Image 2015 Trial Install

Thread needs solution

I installed the trial version of Acronis True Image 2015. I've performed a full disk backup and a file backup which has then run scheduled once and missed its second schedule because the backup drive was not present. I've slept my pc a couple of times, but only re-booted for the first time after the install this evening. Windows now fails to start. Status 0xc000000e Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

Its a Lenovo W540 running Windows 7 Ultimate with an SSD.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Fixed it. Created a windows install disk and entered recovery mode. It identified and fixed boot problem.

Unsure what caused it but only significant action was installation of True Image so seems too coincidental to ignore. Also note problem reported by other user: "Acronis replaced Windows 7 Boot Program". Their problem seemed to occur on restore. I've not even attempted a restore and this happened.

Anyone got any opinions on this?

Guess its uninstall now and find an alternative.

The 0xC000000E error is a Windows error code that occurs when Windows boot routine cannot find an accessible boot device, ie your hard drive. If you search the net you will find a whole bunch of suspects from application conflicts to unexplained bios changes and overheat conditions of motherboard chipsets. What you experienced is therefore all to common unfortunately. Is it the fault of TI? Maybe, maybe not, but I would not be to fast at pointing fingers!

Here's a link to a description of the sequence of events that create the error. This link offers an application solution to those experiencing this problem which I know nothing about, have never used it and therefore cannot and will not endorse the use of here on the Forum. Further update on this one. Upgraded to the full version near the end of the trial. Entered the key. Ran a synch of files to the cloud; shut down on completion. Restarted the machine today and got the same boot error. Corruption in the boot file; boot partition not found.

Had no issues in the period between the initial trial install and the full install.

I am convinced that True Image is corrupting the boot configuration on install.

I purchased a copy of Acronis True Image 2015 for PC. I attempted to install it on my new Dell XPS 8700 running Windows 8,1. in "Administrator" mode. I get to the box that says "RUN". At this point nothing happens - for like 15 min. I re-ran the set up and requested "Repair". Still No Joy. I attempted to un-install to start over. Can't do that either. Unable to contact Acronis support???

Error messages below:

"Runtime Error
Program C:\Users\....\Local\Temp\EE64...
The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way
Please contact the application's support team for more information"

When I click "OK", something runs and then I get:
"ATIH Uninstaller has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program
and notify you is a solution is available."
Now I can neither load or uninstall Acronis.

No phone number to call, no way to contact Acronis Support.

Now I can neither load or uninstall Acronis.

No phone number to call - I guess I can see whyl.

Bought ATI 2015; Attempted to backup an image to DVD+R; failed at 7th disk; could not validate. Gave up messing with this program, rebooted... MBR scrambled. Thankfully, Windows 7 repair disk saved the day and restored the MBR.
I was a faithful TI user since version 10 to 13, 13 was problematic. Bypassed version 2014. Now with version 2015, after giving it a chance. Sorry, no more.

I have two different laptops both with a single Samsung 850 PRO SSD.  I have Acronis True Image 2015 on both of them.  I have recovered files and had both of the SSD's messed up after the recovery.  I only recovered files, not a system image.  When I try to boot after the recovery, I get a 0xC000000E error.  There is definitely something wrong with Acronis TI 2015 that is causing this problem.

If you can't trust your backup software it's time to buy something you can trust.  I have lost a lot of precious photos and other files because of this.  No more Acronis purchases from me.
