Windows Vista Desktop to Windows 7 Laptop
Hi there. I'm having trouble finding exactly what I'm looking for so I'll post my question here.
I have Acronis True Image Home 11 that I purchased in 2008 for my desktop Windows Vista PC, used to back up the whole system to an external hard drive in case of failure.
I have now purchased a laptop with Windows 7 Home on it. I would like to transfer all of my programs and program settings (specially so that the registration information for those programs is already inputted).
I used the Windows Easy Transfer utility but of course that only transferred documents and settings for a few programs.
I assume my best option would be to purchase the $29.99 upgrade to True Image Home 2011, download this on my "old" computer, purchase/download the Plus Pack on my old computer, and back everything up to the external hard drive, then transfer to the new computer.
Does anyone have any experience in doing this, any tips, or detailed/itemized instructions to follow? I am trying to prevent having to install all of my programs separately on the new computer and going through and putting in all of the settings for them again on the new PC.
Thanks
